Good bye 2009

We are enjoying our last day of play in 2009. We're going out with a great party, playing late into the night. We have two rooms of high energy. Ben (Heeler mix), Boomer (Golden Doodle), Brok (Boxer), Capone (Doberman), Daisy (Boxer), Jade (Rottweiler), Jager (German Shorthaired Pointer) and JJ (Lab mix) are in the big room. They like to chase bubbles, balls or each other. There is also a lot of singing going on in there. JJ keeps running up the big slide and seems to be the only on in the room who can do it. Jager likes to grab a toy, have the crowd chase him, then run into a crate for a break. Daisy and Brok seemed to realize half way through the night that they both like to box. What a good pair! Jade and Boomer are happy to chase or wrestle anyone who walks by. Capone is an expert at getting a butt scratch. He'll run around with the dogs then casually rub up to the staff. Ben is an expert bubble catcher and has a new BFF in JJ.
In the small room we have Emmit (Beagle), Maya (Border Collie/Spaniel mix), Otto (English Setter), Izzy (Lab), Koda (Shepherd mix), Chloe (Brittany), Kimber (Pomeranian), Rudy (Border Collie mix), Mack (Mix), Zoey (Lab mix), Lexus (Pug), and Zoey (Mix). Rudy and Maya are running a lot. Otto has a little crush on Koda. Lexus, Emmit and Izzy really liked chasing bubbles. Mack started out at full speed of running and playing, took a little break and was playing hard with Zoey again by 9pm. Chloe and Kimber are taking turns running around and napping on the bed. Camo (Lab) and Finley (Golden Retriever) were here for the beginning of the party but both headed home for the night. They had been playing all day and looked exhausted.
Happy New Year!

I am thankful for...

I am thankful for my many friends at the lodge. We are starting out our Thanksgiving week with a great group of dogs! In the large room we have Koco (Lab), Daisy (Lab), Kozar (Mixed), Parker (English Bulldog), Raena (Rottweiler mix) and Emmy (German Shepherd). Parker and Kozar have really hit it off. They played so hard together, that Parker put himself in a crate for a mid-morning break. Koco and Emmy had a great game of chase and peek-a-boo around the large slide. Daisy and Raena did a lot of running, but both made sure to get plenty of petting from the staff.

In the small room we have Lily (Bichon), Diamond (Bichon), Crystal (Bichon), Cooper (Maltese), Ollie (Cockapoo), Chico (Lhasa Poo), Izzy (Lab), Camo (Lab), Brady (Lab), Molly (Mountain Cur), Chloe (Yorkie Poo), Jackson (Springer Spaniel), and Otto (English Setter). Izzy, Brady, Camo and Ollie were playing rough together, wrestling and running. They were exhausted by nap time. Chloe loves to get the other dogs to chase her. Then she runs under the slide, where only she can fit. Otto joined in on the chasing, but also hung out with the white dog brigade.

Goodbye Winnie

I am so sad to tell everyone that my big sister Winnie (Beagle/Border Collie) died last week. Mommy and the rest of the family have been very sad. Winnie is the dog on our logo and was almost 16 years old. She was loved and will be missed.

On a happy note, we had a great crowd today! I was especially excited about a new puppy who joined us for the first time, Penny (Beagle). She came with her big sister Lucy (Beagle) and had a great time. Molly (Beagle) was happy to have her with us, too. Go beagles! There were a lot of other great dogs, including one of my best friends, Koco (Lab). I miss the days when Koco was a small girl like me.

Goodbye my friend.

I am so sad to have learned that I lost a good friend. Poppy was the best ball chaser around. I will miss her.

Change is happening here

The lodge has been going through some changes this month. The biggest is in our lobby. Our retail boutique is taking it over. Mommy just put out some new Halloween toys that look great. She told me I can't have one, that they are for our guests. If that's not enough for me to handle, the food moved, so I now have a new shelving unit to guard as my friends leave. I keep hearing the food isn't all mine, but I find that hard to believe. Molly (beagle) inspected it all when she was leaving today, and declares the expansion a good thing. Hopefully she can help me sample some new treats.

Some dogs were too focused on playing to even notice the changes: Hank (Bernese/Shepherd mix), Koco (Lab), Boomer (Labradoodle), and Dozer (Husky). Avery (Lab/Pitbull mix) and Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix) played hard with Jade (Rottweiler), Daisy (Doberman/Pitbull mix) and Mulligan (Golden Retriever). Mackenzie (Lab mix) joined the crowd in the afternoon. She may have a little crush on Hank. Over in the small dog room, Taffy (Corgi) played with Milo (Lab mix), Brandy (Shiba Inu), Molly (Mountain Cur) and Cooper (Maltese). Dozer got to spend a little time in the small room, too. He loves to run and wrestle, and is so excited about his parents' wedding this weekend. Congrats!

The last days of summer

I have had a super busy summer, and have loved meeting all of my new friends. Now that school is starting back, it looks like we are going to have a few less friends sleeping over during the week, but many more coming just for the day. Today we have some regulars and some newbies.
Annie (Airedale), Morgan (German Shorthair Pointer), Chelse (German Shorthair Pointer), Maddie (Shih Tzu), Maya (Border Collie mix), Sadie Blue (Australian Shepherd), Brandy (Shiba Inu), Ollie (Cockapoo), Gunny (Boxer), Mason (Border Collie), Jackson (Border Collie), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Daisy (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Avery (Lab/Pitbull mix), Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Ruthie (St. Bernard), Zeus (St. Bernard), and Koco (Lab) are all here having a great time today.

The weather is perfect, so we have the overhead doors open for us to run in and out. We also have some water in our turtle pool. Maya and Sadie really like that! Annie liked chasing balls and running around with Maya, Sadie and Ollie. I played for a while with Mason, Jackson, and Avery. The boys were actually able to pull themselves away from the balls for a few minutes. :) Koco and Ruthie just met today but are already great friends. Koco kind of likes having a friend who is bigger than her. Ruthie also loves playing with Zeus. Raia and Daisy liked playing peek-a-boo from under the big slide in the playroom. Silly girls.

What a busy month!

It's a lot of work running the lodge during the busy summer travel season. I am having a blast with all my new friends.

The pools are out almost every day for us to splash around. Some of my friends think they are huge water bowls, and some of my friends think the water bowls are actually very small pools. Either way, we are staying well hydrated inside and out.
One picture is of me with my friends Buddy (Yorkie mix), Rosie (Viszla) and Dexter (American Eskimo). The other is of Willis (Lab mix), Dina (German Shepherd) and Rowdy (Boxer), who are also good friends of mine.

How is it already the last Friday in June?

Time sure flies here at the lodge. We have lots of new friends joining us every week for vacation. I bet some of the dogs have more fun here with us than their people do on their own trips. We have pools to play in, blankets to nap on, and lots of people to pet us. This is the life!

Theo (Lab), Dyson (Jack Russell Terrier), Hanna (Pug), Hailey (Pug), Avery (Lab/Pitbull mix), Rusty (Sheltie), Rusty (Hound mix), Barrett (American Bulldog mix), Scruffy (Shih Tzu), Summer (Shih Tzu), Maggie Mae (Lab/Border Collie mix), Dexter (American Eskimo), Jaycie (Springer Spaniel) and I made up the crowd in the small room this morning. Theo took a little break from the action to get his bath and pedicure just before nap time. Avery, Theo and Jaycie ran around playing chase with Dexter. Dexter and Jaycie also did some splashing in the pool.

Foxy (Golden Retriever), Romney (Lab/Golden mix), Harley (Lab), Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Raena (Rottweiler mix) and Koda (Shepherd mix) loved the pool today. Romney, Harley and Tiki were probably in the water at least as often as they were out of it.

Other news from the week:

Otto (English Setter) has a crush on Maya (Border Collie/Spaniel mix), and maybe a little crush on Carlee (Husky mix) too. Otto has been quite the ladies man, also playing a lot with Zoey (Lab mix) this week.

JJ (Lab mix) somehow made it through a week without Koco, by keeping busy with Koda and Harley.

Rather than mud wrestling, we had a few sessions of pool wrestling. Blitz (Bearded Collie mix) and Harley were the champs.

Newt (Yorkie) has a major crush on Mackenzie (Lab/Border Collie mix) and couldn't stop following her around. She didn't mind, but also didn't seem to feel the same way about him. It's tough being a little guy.

Chico (Lhasapoo) also has a crush on Maya. It must be those beautiful blue eyes.

Feeling like summer today!

We started the day today with the overhead doors open, but we were relaxing in the air conditioning by lunchtime. Ashley (human) filled one of the pools for us. Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Cooper (Yorkie) enjoyed the water the most, and got completely soaked. Mason (Border Collie) chased balls a lot, ran around with Otto (English Setter), Chico (Lhasa Poo) and Cooper. Daisy (Doberman/Pit mix), Raia (Doberman/Pit mix), Avery (Lab mix), and Zoey (Lab mix) had their little clique going again. Newt (Yorkie) chased Mason while Mason chased balls. Everyone had so much fun!
Molly (Mountain Cur), Duke (Rhodesian mix), Romney (Lab/Golden mix), Mattie (English bulldog) and I (Betty the beagle) were the big dogs today. Mattie and I really wrestled a lot, and the others tried to keep up with us. Everyone was ready for nap time.

Welcome Huffy and Romney!

We have two new friends so far this week at the lodge! Huffy (Staffordshire mix) and Romney (Lab/Golden mix) had a great time together. They are new BFFs, but they played well with Avery (Lab/Pitbull mix) and Tiki (Golden), too. Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix) was reunited with her littermate Daisy today after over a week apart. They were thrilled to see each other. Cooper (Yorkie) still has his crush on Zoey (Lab mix). Otto (English Setter) wanted to play with Mason (Border Collie), but Mason was more interested in chasing a ball. Jackson (Border Collie) was pleased to see a few of his sheep here today, Chico (Lhasa Poo) and Cooper (Maltese). He loves to circle the room as if he is herding them. I'm not sure if they really know what Jack is trying to do. This afternoon, the swimming pool came out. We used it more as a water bowl than a place to swim today. Huffy loves to play tug with Raia and Avery, or anyone really.

Cooper falls in love!

Cooper (Yorkshire Terrier) has developed quite the crush on little Zoey (Lab mix). He was fawning over her all day. Zoey didn't seem to mind the attention. I wonder if she likes him back. Avery (Lab/Pitbull mix) and Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix) enjoyed their time together as always. Guinness (Terrier mix) and Einstein (Eskipoo) did a lot of running around. Tiki (Golden Retriever) wrestled with Avery. My buddy Maya (Border Collie/Spaniel mix) loves climbing the jungle gym in the room. She should look into taking gymnastics lessons, or maybe agility.

Our logo dog came to visit today!

Here today are JJ (Lab mix), Zoey (Lab mix), Blitz (Bearded Collie mix), Poppy (Bearded Collie), Otto (English Setter), Maya (Border Collie/Spaniel mix), Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Avery (Lab/pitbull mix), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Winston (Border Collie/Beagle mix), and me(Beagle)! We all split our time between the two playrooms, since we all get along. No one was really small and no one was really big today, just a happy medium sized bunch. I played mostly with Maya, then we competed in our daily "who can jump the highest to look out the window" contest. I think Maya wins. Zoey, Avery and Raia all piled into the chair mid-morning for a nap. I don't know what they are going to do when they get bigger. I guess we'll have to get a bigger chair in here. Otto spent his time mostly with JJ and Tiki. Blitz and JJ played, while Poppy kept the humans entertained with ball chasing.
Winston is the dog on our logo. She is 15 1/2 years old, so she doesn't usually come to see us at the lodge. She needed a little spa day though. She hung out in the playroom for most of the morning, but will probably be napping the rest of the day. Another spa day girl today is Jujubee (Shar Pei). She had a nice oatmeal bath and is looking spiffy.

Back in the saddle again

We were so busy (and down one employee) that mommy and I had trouble finding time for our blog lately. We are now staffed back up again, so we have time to write. Today we are welcoming Ashley to the Cold Nose Lodge staff!

Today we have Mulligan (Golden Retriever), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Chase (Lab/Border Collie), Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Avery (Lab/Pitbull mix), Lily (Weimeraner), Chico (Lhasa Poo), Shiloh (German Shepherd), and Zoey (Lab mix). Chico and Lily are running around and keeping an eye on all these youngsters. They both seem to like Ashley. Chico found his way up onto her lap, but Lily is a bit too big for that. Chase and Mulligan had a little singing contest when Tiki arrived. Did they think she was the judge for Cold Nose Idol? Raia, Avery, Shiloh and Zoey alternate between wrestling, running and napping. The weather could be better, but we are having a great time inside the playrooms here at the lodge.

Happy Mother's Day!

My good friend Koco wants to be sure her grandma knows how much she loves her. Happy Mother's Day!

(Happy Mother's Day to everyone from me, too.)

TGIF weekly round-up

Some of you may not know that in addition to running the lodge, I also have two human kids at home to help mommy raise. They have been keeping me up at night this week, so I haven't had time to write. Here's the entire week in review...

We welcomed several new friends this past week - Maya (Border Collie/Spaniel mix), Blaze (Lab), and Keeta (Neopolitan Mastiff). We also welcomed a new foster puppy, Katie (Rottweiler mix). She joins Avery (Lab/pitbull) mix who is also looking for her forever family. To keep this welcoming going, we also welcomed back two friends who took some time off for surgery. Rowdy (Boxer) and Mason (Border Collie) had the big snip.

Over the weekend, Lucy (Lab) played with Jager (German Shorthaired Pointer) and Avery. Avery also played a lot with her new BFF Indie (Carolina Dog). Sashi (Tibetan Terrier), Falko (Schnauzer) and Maya joined in on the fun, too. I made an appearance for one play session on Sunday.

On Monday, the large room was hopping. Koco (Lab), Blitz (Bearded Collie mix), Poppy (Bearded Collie) had enough action for an entire herd of puppies. Later in the day, they combined groups with the small room. Tiki (Golden Retriever), Riley (Lhasa Poo), Molly (Mountain Cur), Chico (Lhasa Poo), Otto (English Setter), Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel), Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Daisy (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Avery, and Indie rounded out the crowd. Jaycie made her rounds, playing with everyone and anyone. Riley, Molly and Chico were less interested in the craziness. Otto played mostly with Avery and Indie. The ladies let him into their new clique. JJ (Lab mix) joined us in the afternoon and played hard with Blitz.

On Tuesday, Indie, Jackson (Border Collie), Cooper (Maltese), Molly (Beagle), Raia, Daisy, Dyson (Jack Russell Terrier), and Keeta took over the small room. Keeta started her morning in the large room, but she just wanted to rest. The crowd was too wild for her to relax. Over in the big room were Blaze, Bingo (Border Collie mix), Gabby (Lab), Mulligan (Golden Retriever), Koco, Katie, Avery, and Tiki. Gabby had a great time playing in the water bowl. When she and Koco are playing together, it's really hard to tell them apart. Gabby got a little booboo under her eye and mommy checked both dogs three times to be sure she knew which mommy to tell. We think it's the result of a flying dewclaw in all the crazy lab wrestling. Koalby (Labradoodle) and Midnight (Lab) joined the fun in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, Midnight played with Chase (Lab/Border Collie), Avery, Katie, and Tiki played well together. Once they got their initial energy out, we opened the door between the rooms. They joined Jaycie, Raia, Daisy, Koalby, Maya, Buster (Maltese), Lucy (Papillon), Molly (Mountian Cur), Sage (Pug), and Lily (Weimeraner). Koalby played a lot of fetch. The young puppies did a lot of napping. Everyone else split their time between playing and resting. In the afternoon, Sage and Raia were inseperable. Koda (Border Collie) mix came for some games of chase in the afternoon.

On Thursday, Koco, Katie, Avery, JJ, Koalby, Midnight, Mattie (English Bulldog), and Harley (English Bulldog) were together in the large room. Tiki, Raia, Daisy, Cooper (Maltese), Cooper (Yorkie) , Otto, Chico, Molly (Beagle), Zoey, and I played in the small room. Koalby played with Midnight and Koco, but most of the crowd was so stunned to see the sun that we lounged around. Cooper had some fun playing in the mini-pool, which is known to the rest of us as the water bowl. That's him in the picture.

Today is Friday, and we have a big crowd again. Tiki, Avery, Daisy, Raia, Callie (Sheltie), Cooper, Cooper, Dyson, Koalby, Maya, Barrett (American Bulldog mix), Rowdy, Guinness (Terrier mix), Breezie (Boxer), Katie, Hank (Shepherd mix), Koco, Midnight, Blitz, and Poppy are all here. What a fun week!

Take me out to the ballgame

I had a great time meeting lots of new people and new dogs at the Iron Pigs game last night. We saw a few faces we recognized and a lot of new ones, too. While walking around with mommy I snatched up some crumbs and even grabbed a piece of fried dough that someone had set aside. Yummy!

Today we are welcoming two new dogs - Duke (Golden Retriever) and Gabby (Lab). They played with Jethro (Lab/Shepherd), Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Molly (Mountain Cur). Duke likes to climb on the jungle gyms, and Gabby really likes to splash in the water bowls. She looks like she went to the pool. In the small room today, we have Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Daisy (Doberman/Pitbull mix), and Dora (Doberman/Pitbull mix). Dora is leaving today for her new home - congratulations! Dyson (Jack Russell) played a little with Chico (Lhasa Poo), Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel), but had a great time running around with Bruno (Beagle). Inky (English Springer Spaniel) was more interested in getting some good petting from the people and watching the others play.

Now to get caught up again...

On Wednesday, Lucy (German Shepherd) and Jaycie played together a lot. Mulligan (Golden Retriever) played with Tiki, and both let Raia, Daisy and Dora climb all over them. Chase (Lab/Border Collie mix) played with everyone that would let him. Lily (Weimeraner) and Inky stayed a bit more to themselves, but made sure to get lots of attention from the people. Sage (Pug) played with the puppies and snuggled with them for naps. Koda (Bernese mix) joined the group later in the day and played a lot with Jaycie. Molly (Mountain Cur) played with Tiki and chased balls for a while. She was full of energy!
On Thursday, Otto (English Setter) started in the big dog room with Shelby (Boxer), Cooper (Golden Retriever) and Tiki. Koco (Lab), Blitz (Bearded mix) and Molly (Bearded Collie) joined them, too. Then Otto switched rooms to play with the puppies, Sage (Pug), Cooper (Maltese), Bailey (Cockapoo) and Cooper (Yorkie). Cooper the Yorkie must have heard about all the fun we had earlier in the week with the pool. We had the extra large water bowl, and he just hopped right inside. Silly boy.

The pool's open!

We have water in our pool our in the play yard! Several of us dipped our feet in, while some thought it was just a really big water bowl. Blitz (Beaded Collie mix), Poppy (Bearded Collie) and Koco (Lab) have been spending most of the day together. Poppy splits her time between hanging with her friends and chasing balls. Lucy (German Shepherd) runs around a lot, loves attention from the people and seems to be having a good time. She checks the door periodically for her dad but likes us here. We're glad she came to meet us! Another newbie at the lodge is Phoebe (German Shorthaired Pointer). She likes the yards better than the playroom, maybe it's the great view of the cornfields. Tiki (Golden Retriever) played puppy momma again today, spending a lot of time with Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Daisy (Doberman/Pitbull mix) and Dora (Doberman/Pitbull mix). She also spent time running and wrestling with Molly (Mountain Cur). Molly was really into chasing balls today, too. She was like a little puppy today. Dyson (Jack Russell Terrier) is here for his second day. He is fitting in well. Cooper (Maltese) is being so brave today. We had the door open between the two playrooms, and he walked all the way through the big room to go out on the deck. That was two different slick floors to cross. Way to go Cooper! Oliver (Yorkshire Terrier) went home this morning, but played with us for an hour or so first. He loves it here. He was nervous his first day but is now great friends with so many new dogs. We can't wait to have him back! Chico (Lhasa Poo) liked pretending to be a big dog with Poppy and Blitz today. He was sad that he missed seeing his best friend, Jackson (Border Collie) yesterday. Molly (Beagle) and Inky (English Springer Spaniel) watched the youngins go in the pool and swapped stories about being young and silly. Overall we are having a great day today!

On Monday and over the weekend, we had some great friends here. Max (Miniature Pinscher) was here while his parents got married. Congratulations! Macie was full of energy every day. She loves everyone and plays hard. Otto (English Setter) and Oliver played part of the day. Then Otto moved on to Lucy. Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) tried to play with Inky, but he prefers to watch her run around with JJ (Lab mix) and Cooper (Golden Retriever). Cooper loved the pool, and so did JJ. He ran all around after his dip in the pool like he was rocket-propelled. Buster (Lab mix) found a perfect shady spot in the yard and settled in to watch the fun. Jackson and Mason (Border Collie) were tired and ready for a nap in the middle of the floor by 10am. They usually have so much more energy. It must be the warm weather. The nice cool floor really has a way of pulling you in. Daisy, Dora, and Raia tried the pool but were done with it pretty quickly.

We're getting ready to "Bark & Wine" tonight!

I am busy supervising the humans as they get things ready for the Bark & Wine tonight. I don't know how they would get it all done without me. Here to help me today are Tiki (Golden Retriever), Barrett (American Bulldog mix), Cooper (Yorkie), Oliver (Yorkie), Macie (Wheaton Poo), Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel), Daisy (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Raia (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Dora (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Zac (Doberman/Pitbull mix), Molly (Mountain Cur), Harley (English Bulldog), Breezie (Boxer), Rowdy (Boxer), Koco (Lab), Lucy (Lab), Sage (Pug), Guinness (Terrier mix) and last but not least, Parker (English Bulldog). The younger pups spent more time playing than working. Same thing with the labs and boxers. Barrett and Molly spent time chatting with the humans, but I think they were more interested in getting some love than in getting ready to party. The humans have almost completed my list - they have done some furniture rearranging, but still need to finish getting the food and drinks ready. I have offered my services as taste tester, especially for any meat or cheese related items. So far, mommy has just shared some veggies with me - so lame.

Thursday - I earned my nap on the couch today!

I am so tired today that I can barely dictate this to mommy. We have a nice big crowd. I'll start with the big dogs. Hank (Shepherd/Bernese Mountain mix) was thrilled to meet up with his buddy Jethro (Lab/Shepherd mix). He was also happy to see Chase (Lab/Border Collie mix), JJ (Lab mix), Koco (Lab), Blitz (Bearded Collie mix) and Poppy (Bearded Collie). Hank, Jethro and Blitz played hard together, lots of wrestling and running. The rest of the group alternated between running, chasing toys, a little wrestling and a little chewing on toys.
Over in the small dog room, things were really hopping. With had all three Coopers here today (Golden Retriever), (Maltese) and (Yorkshire Terrier). Lucky for us they don't look anything alike. The little Coopers hung out with Oliver (Yorkshire Terrier), Raia (Doberman/Pit mix), Daisy (Doberman/Pit mix), Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) and Dora (Doberman/Pit mix). Otto (English Setter) played a lot with Lucy (Lab). Chico (Lhasa Poo) ran around and visited with everyone. He seemed really interested in Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel.) Molly (Mountain Cur) played with Tiki (Golden Retriever) and kept an eye on the little ones. Mulligan (Golden Retriever) played with Jaycie, Tiki, Cooper, and Macie (Wheaton Poo). Sage (Pug) loves to run all around and be chased. She and Tiki wrestled a little, too. Now I'm going to crash on the couch, which is where I plan to stay. I need to be well rested for the Bark & Wine tomorrow night.

Wednesday

We had a great Wednesday/Earth Day here at the lodge. Two new friends joined us - Bella (Australian Shepherd) and Merlin (Australian Shepherd mix). They seemed to have fun, especially Merlin. He's still a young guy and seemed thrilled to have some new buddies. Lily (Weimeraner) told them all about life at the lodge, since they will be boarding here soon. Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Lucy (Lab) also played with the newbies. Over in the small room with me were Oliver (Yorkshire Terrier), Molly (Mountain Cur), Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel), Sage (Pug), Daisy (Doberman/Pit mix), Raia (Doberman/Pit mix) and our two Doberman/Pit foster puppies - Zac and Dora. (They still are looking for families and hope one of you reading this knows someone looking for a new addition to the family.) Oliver enjoyed a lot of lap time and petting from the humans. Tiki came back to the small room and played with Molly then let the puppies pile on her. Oliver came out of his shell a little towards the end of the day and played with Macie (Wheaton/Poo).

A nice uneventful day

I am so happy to see the sun, even if it may not stay all day. I am happy to report no unusual visitors today. Harley (English Bulldog) is here for his first long day today. He really enjoys playing with the chocolate crew: JJ (Lab mix), Lucy (Lab) and Koco (Lab mix). Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) played with everyone she could. Tiki (Golden Retriever) loves hanging out with the little puppies: Raia (Doberman/Pit mix), Daisy (Doberman/Pit mix), Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) and Dora (Doberman/Pit mix). They love to team up for tug of war. Sometimes Tiki lets them win. Cooper (Maltese) was so happy to have Ed (Human) back for a visit today. He kept watch over the crowd along with Molly (Beagle). Sage (Pug) is back today and running with Jaycie and the puppies. Molly (Mountain Cur) joined us at nap time, so she will miss her normal wrestle time with Tiki. She always has a great time here though. Oliver (Yorkshire Terrier) will be here soon and will probably hang out with Cooper.

What a way to start the week!

We were all surprised this morning by a little visit from a raccoon in our outside play yard. No dogs were injured and the raccoon was released. I think he was looking for a girlfriend and picked the wrong place to look. There are some very pretty girls here, but we all prefer dogs. Now our humans are walking the yard every time before they let us out. Mommy says she hopes no skunks try to join us, too.
Blitz (Bearded Collie mix), Poppy (Bearded Collie), and Molly (Mountain Cur) joined us after the raccoon incident and played as if it were any other day. Poppy chased balls most of the time. Tucker (Golden Retriever) enjoyed hanging out with lots of other Goldens today - Cooper, Dodger, Mulligan, and Tiki. It was a blond bonanza. Lucy (Lab) was an honorary member of the golden club today. She loves to play with everyone and adjusts her play level to match whoever she's with. She likes playing with the little puppies and the big dogs. Jaycie (English Springer) was saving up some energy over the weekend to burn off today. She ran, pounced and played tug with Mulligan, Cooper, and anyone else who would join in the fun. Buster (Lab mix) came for the first time today. He was a little uncertain, but seemed to like meeting us. He liked hanging out in the yard, but we weren't out much because of the rain. Daisy (Doberman/Pit mix) was adopted this weekend and is back to start our puppy potty training program today. She's doing a great job! Raia (Doberman/Pit mix) is also doing well. She enjoyed napping with Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) and Dora (Doberman/Pit mix), too. Daisy and Sage (Pug) play really well together. They love to run and wrestle. Chico (Lhasa Poo) just joined us for the afternoon. He says he missed us over the weekend. :)

Nearing the end of another week of playing

Thursday was really busy. I'm just now caught up enough to dictate this to Mommy. Our large room was really hopping yesterday with Koco (Lab), JJ (Lab mix), Blitz (Bearded Collie mix), Poppy (Bearded Collie), and Mattie (English Bulldog). JJ and Koco shocked us all by splitting up for part of the morning. JJ played more with Blitz, until Mattie arrived. Then he was really into playing with her. Koco and Poppy chased balls and toys. Mason (Border Collie) chased balls while his big brother Jackson (Border Collie) supervised. Leks (Great Dane) joined the crowd in the afternoon and fit in immediately.
In the small room, we were pretty busy, too. Honey (Golden Retriever) made sure the people gave her lots of love. Bingo (Border Collie mix) started the morning with the big dogs but had more fun playing in my room with Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) and Carlee (Husky mix). Cooper (Maltese) and Cooper (Yorkshire Terrier) hung out with the babies a lot - Raia, Zac, Daisy, and Hercules. Dora (Doberman/Pit mix) came to stay with us at the end of the day. She is the last of the litter to come to the lodge. We're hoping someone falls in love with her quickly. Molly (Mountain Cur) and Tiki (Golden Retriever) wrestled quite a bit. Ike (Schnauzer/Basset Hound) came to visit for the day. He's really hoping his mommy is able to open a place like this up in the Poconos one day.

Now for Friday: Hank (Shepherd/Bernese Mountain Dog mix) came for the morning and played so nicely with Jager (German Shorthair Pointer) and Leks. Barrett (American Bulldog mix) started with the big guys but was ready for something a little more mellow by mid-morning. He loved running in and out all he wanted, since the big door stayed open. Cooper (Yorkie), Molly (Mountain Cur), Jaycie, Tiki, Jackson, and Mason were all back for more fun today. Jackson was thrilled to see two of his "sheep" arrive - Chico (Lhasa Poo) and Guinness (Terrier mix). Jaycie attempted a little tug-of-war game versus the puppies. She was winning until Tiki came over and joined the puppy side and led them to victory! Then everyone layed down together to chew on the big braided rope for a while. We were all outside when the big truck came to take the dumpster. Although it was on the other side of the fence, some of my friends were nervous, so we all ran inside to stay safe. As soon as the truck was gone, we were back outside. Molly may be developing a crush on little Cooper. She was spending a lot of time with him today. I'll be keeping an eye on them. He's a little young for her, but I hear being a cougar is the cool new thing. I guess Molly is up on the latest trends.

More puppies!

Since our foster puppies had more littermates, two more joined us last night. They are Daisy (Doberman/Pit mix) and Hercules (Doberman/Pit mix). They were happy to see Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) last night and Raia (Doberman/Pit mix) when she came in this morning. Daisy is really having a good time playing with Sage (Pug). Honey (Golden Retriever) played with Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) but ran out of energy before Jaycie did. Jaycie then moved on to play with Chase (Lab/Border Collie) and Koco (Lab). Molly (Mountain Cur) wrestled with Tiki (Golden Retriever). By mid-morning, all the puppies were ready for a nap except for Hercules. So, Chase took his place and joined the crowd. Jackson (Border Collie) seems to be very concerned with the puppies and keeping everyone in line. It must be a border collie nightmare to have these puppies running every which way. He also chased ball for a while with Mason (Border Collie).

Welcome Lucy!

We had another fun day here at the Lodge. Lucy (Lab) joined us for her first day. She is a chocolate lab, and JJ (Lab mix) totally fell for her. His girlfriend Koco (Lab) was here too today, so he split his time between both ladies. They also played with Breezie (Boxer), Rowdy (Boxer) and Mulligan (Golden Retriever). Mulligan jumped over to the small dog room part way through the morning to play with Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) and Tiki (Golden Retriever). Jackson (Border Collie) kept watch over the little ones and seemed happiest when everyone was gathered in the middle of the room. Raia (Doberman/Pit mix), Zeus (Doberman/Pit mix) and Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) ran around a lot and napped together off an on. Zeus left at naptime to join his new family. I hope he comes to visit Renee' (Human) and me again soon. Cooper (Maltese) decided it is a lot of fun to walk all around the room, as long as he could stay near the wall. He really went on an adventure! Honey (Golden Retriever), Molly (Mountain Cur) and Molly (Beagle) swapped stories about the little ones and made sure Jackson didn't take his job as law enforcer too seriously. He knows the girls are really in charge here. :)

Now to get everyone caught up on the last few days. We had a great Easter weekend here. Koda (Shepherd mix), Gilly (Lab/Shepherd mix), Angel (Golden Retriever), Buddy (Pointer mix), Sashi (Tibetan Terrier), Riley (Lhasa Poo), Zeus, Zac and Koalby (Labradoodle) were all here. Koalby just came to play for the day on Saturday and had a great time! Sashi and Gilly played together a lot and Koda jumped in periodically. Angel and Buddy were still pretty tired from playing for several days and took a few extra naps over the weekend.

On Monday, we had a nice crowd. Tucker (Golden Retriever) met a possible new girlfriend, Honey. She isn't as sure about starting a new romance. He also played with Jaycie, Gilly, JJ, Tiki, and a little with Angel and Buddy. Raia, Zeus and Zac enjoyed being reunited, and Raia had a good first day of officially being in the PPTAP. Chico (Lhasa Poo) and JJ are learning to hang out together a little bit more. Chico will never love JJ as much as he loves Jackson though.

Happy Easter everyone!

After such a busy day yesterday, things seem almost too calm today. Riley (Lhasa Poo) is running a lot. He doesn't like to wrestle, but he loves to get the group moving. Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel), Zeus (Doberman/Pit mix) and Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) were all ready to join in every time. Jaycie's doing a great job on her potty training, by the way. :) Buddy (Pointer mix) and Angel (Golden Retriever) are tired today. Buddy climbed up on one of the beds in the playroom to take a nap. Both were bouncing around again after nap. Gilly (Lab/Shepherd) is always smiling. He is so happy he gets to be here for vacation! Guinness (Terrier mix) joined us for a half day. He and Gilly could compete in a smiling contest. I wonder which would win. Koda (Shepherd mix) will be joining us later and will stir up the crowd. She and Gilly are probably going to be best friends this weekend.

Wednesday and Thursday together

I have a lot of writing to do to get Wednesday and today all updated. First for Wednesday...
Lily (Weimeraner) helped Renee' (Human) work on the murals in the large dog room. I think with Lily's help, they are going to be great! I'm sure everyone reading the blog regularly can guess who Koco (Lab) played with: JJ (Lab mix) and some with Jaycie (English Springer). After she left, JJ finished the day playing with Chase (Lab/Border Collie mix) and Koda (Bernese/Border Collie) mix. Mattie (English Bulldog) seems to have almost run out of energy. She was happy to be going home to her own bed but says she had a great time on her sleepover with us. She and Sage (Pug) wrestled with me a bit. The rest of the crowd was a bit more calm than us. Buddy (Pointer mix), Angel (Golden Retriever), Jackson (Border Collie), and Molly (Mountain Cur) ran around but didn't wrestle. Well, Molly did wrestle a little with Tiki (Golden Retriever). Another little quiz for the regular readers - what do you think Mason (Border Collie)did? Chased balls, of course. The foster pups played hard and napped a lot. Zeus (Doberman/Pit mix) would be happy if the people carried him around and snuggled with him all day. Zac (Doberman/Pit mix) would love to be in a room entirely filled with shoes and pants to chew on. Zena (Doberman/Pit mix) spent some time with her new mommy. Her new name is going to be Raia, and she heads out on Thursday. Congratulations! She's going to sign up for the Puppy Potty Training Assistance Program (PPTAP), so we'll get to see her every day at least for the next four weeks. Woohoo!

Now for today... we are welcoming FIVE new friends today! Cooper (Yorkshire Terrier), Gilly (Lab/Shepherd mix), Rusty (Shepherd/Foxhound/Beagle mix), Summer (Shih Tzu) and Scruffy (Shih Tzu). All four seem really happy to be here and fit in well right away. Cooper, Summer and Scruffy liked to play with Chico (Lhasa Poo), Riley (Lhasa Poo), Cooper (Maltese) and a little with the babies, Zeus, Zac and Raia. Kain (Catahoula Leopard Dog) hung out with us small folk and was thrilled when mommy opened the big door. Then we could all run in and out all we wanted. Kain and Rusty were instant friends when Rusty joined us this afternoon. Rusty and Otto (English Setter) also hit it off. Molly (Beagle) loves to sun herself, especially if she can get a good petting at the same time. Otto, Rowdy (Boxer) and Tiki spent the first part of the morning in with the big dogs, but they joined us just in time for the big door to go up. Buddy and Angel also split their morning between the rooms. They are so gentle with the little ones and really just wanted to rest by then anyway. They were ready for naptime today. (I think we all were, really.) JJ and Koco played with Breezie (Boxer), Dodger (Golden Retriever) and Gilly. Mulligan (Golden Retriever) ran around with Dodger and Jaycie. He and Jaycie wrestled a little, too.

Mommy told me it's a full moon and that she can tell by watching us play. Everyone is a little kookier during a full moon. I don't know what she's talking about. We are all always perfect. ;)

Time to get caught up...

My little girl has been sick, so Mommy hasn't been able to type for me. Tiki (Golden Retriever) has been taking notes to be sure I don't miss anything.
King (Shepherd mix) our foster dog, went to his new home on Sunday. Congratulations King! Now we have three little eight week old puppies that are looking for a home. They are Zues (Doberman/Pit mix), Zena (Doberman/Pit mix) and Zac (Doberman/Pit mix). They are having a great time here and are really advanced with their potty training (at least that's what mommy says).
I slept over last weekend along with my brothers and sister while mommy and daddy went to a convention in Baltimore. Jackson (Lab/Doberman mix), Bruno (Beagle), Winston (Beagle/Border Collie)and I had a great time, but it was nice to get back home. I played with Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound), Falko (Schnauzer), Guinness (Terrier mix), Fifi (Pomeranian), Skippy (Pomeranian) and Campbell (Cairn mix).
On Monday, Chico (Lhasa Poo), Tiki, Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) played. Tiki was the first to drop from exhaustion. Molly (Mountain Cur) and JJ (Lab mix) split their time between the two playrooms. Once Koco (Lab) got here, JJ was in heaven. He loves Koco! Also in the big room were Tucker (Golden Retriever), Otto (English Setter), and Barrett (Bulldog mix). Otto and Koco played hard together. Looks like JJ has some competition. Of course, Otto loves little Jaycie, so he's not really going to try to steal Koco away. Barrett and Tucker are more interested in getting extra petting from the humans than in wrestling with the crazy youngsters.
On Tuesday, the three puppies Zeus, Zena and Zac played with Sage (Pug) and Cooper (Maltese). Molly (Beagle) supervised and let the pups sniff her a bit. Sage joined the big crowd for part of the morning, too. She played with Jaycie, Tiki, Koco, Mattie (English Bulldog) and Molly. Molly and Tiki wrestled for a while.

I'll post for today this afternoon, but this should get everyone caught up on the latest at the Lodge.

Friday, April 3, 2009

It's Friday!

We're making the best of another rainy day here at the lodge. Mattie (English Bulldog) and Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel) played and played and played. Tiki (Golden Retriever) joined in for a while but needed to stop and rest. Guinness (Terrier mix) ran laps and really got the crowd moving. Fifi (Pomeranian) and Skippy (Pomeranian) mostly played with each other and watched the rest of the crowd play. Little Campbell (Cairn mix) walked the room until he was ready to nap. Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) took a little break from the playtime to have some spa treatments, a pedicure and a bath. She smells just like a baby now. Callie (Sheltie) kept an eye on everyone. Over in the big room, Hank (Shepherd mix) and King (Shepherd mix) played hard. At one point I thought they must have had a bath, but they were just wet from running around outside. They are getting to be really good friends. Hank really hopes King finds a family soon, but that it's one nearby who will bring him to daycare.

Zippity Do Da!

What a wonderful day! Everyone is super active and having a great time today. JJ (Lab mix), Koco (Lab), Breezie (Boxer), Poppy (Bearded Collie) and Blitz (Bearded mix) chased balls, wrestled and shouted about the beautiful weather. King (Shepherd/Collie mix) chased balls out back on the turf. They all played so hard that they ran out of steam before nap time. Rowdy (Boxer), Cooper (Golden Retriever) and Tiki (Golden Retriever) started the day in with the big dogs but joined us in the small room. Rowdy seems to have a little crush on Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel). Otto (English Setter) also has a crush on Jaycie, but they were able to share her time. Bailey played chase with Jaycie while Otto and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) cheered them on. Fifi (Pomeranian) and Skippy (Pomeranian) watched the show from their perch on the bench. Campbell (Cairn mix) spent most of his day napping in his basket or on the bed. Cooper (Maltese) was so happy when the big door went up late in the morning. He ran across the floor, even the shiny part, to get outside.

Stop the rain!

Although we have fun every day at the lodge, we prefer the sunny ones. We usually love to run around outside but can't do it as much in the rain. Lily (Weimeraner) and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) both say they agree. Tiki (Golden Retriever), Sage (Pug) and Koda (Bernese/Border Collie mix) didn't mind the wet at all. Chase (Lab/Border Collie mix) played for a while with King (Shepherd mix) but wore him out. Then he spent more time playing with Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel). He also liked running around with Koda. Skippy (Pomeranian), Fifi (Pomeranian) and Campbell (Cairn mix) enjoyed the company but preferred lounging on the blankets. We're all hoping the weatherman is right and we'll have a nice day tomorrow.

Little dogs rule today!

We have a lot of little dogs today, some who make me look big. Cooper (Maltese), Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel), Molly (Yorkie/Bichon), Fifi (Pomeranian), Skippy (Pomeranian), and Campbell (Cairn mix) are all smaller than me. Jaycie is having a ball, and all the people cheered when she went poopoo and peepee outside. I do it all the time and no one cheers for me. Where's my treat? Cooper, Jaycie and Molly played well together outside. Molly had more spunk and energy than I've ever seen. Jaycie also played a lot with Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound). Ed (Human) helped Jaycie practice walking on a leash and working on manners. The other Molly (Beagle) loves to hang out with all of us dogs in the sun. Of course, I am still her favorite Lodge friend. King (Shepherd mix) played with Koco (Lab) and JJ (Lab mix) but ran out of energy before the labs did. Koco stole a ball from JJ just to get him to chase her around. Jackson (Border Collie) loves having a room of small dogs. We are all his sheep. When he's not tending his flock, he plays ball with his little brother Mason (Border Collie).

Welcome Jaycie!

We are starting another week of fun at the lodge by welcoming a new puppy, Jaycie (English Springer Spaniel). She was a little nervous at first, but already has two new boyfriends - Otto (English Setter) and Cooper (Golden Retriever). Otto was her morning boyfriend, and Cooper was the afternoon man. In the morning, Cooper was with his other lady, Tiki (Golden Retriever). Barrett (American Bulldog mix) wanted to spend most of his time outside. He ran around with everyone but kept his eye on the door, just in case mom and dad came back early. Tucker (Golden Retriever) and Mulligan (Golden Retriever) and Indie (Carolina Dog) joined in on the yellow dog fun. Indie and Mulligan have lots of energy and can run so fast. Tucker likes being petted by the people just as much as playing with his friends. Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) had moments of spunk, but she gets tired much faster than the little ones. Like Tucker, she enjoys a good scratch and pet. Koco (Lab) played with King (Shepherd mix) and they worked hard to wear each other out. Cooper and Tiki played with them a little but couldn't keep up.

Throw the doors open!

What a lovely spring day! We have the big doors open in the playroom, so we can run in and out all we want. Some of us have been sunbathing, like Tiki (Golden Retriever), Callie (Shelti) and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound). Chico (Lhasa Poo) is quite the popular guy. He had a visitor today. Lucy (Papillon), Buster (Maltese), Guinness (Terrier mix) and Chico have been playing together a lot. They have been the little "sheep" for Jackson (Border Collie) to herd. He also played ball with his little brother Mason (Border Collie). Hank (Shepherd mix) and King (Shepherd mix) have been a great match today. They were ready for their first break by 8:30 and were really ready to rest by nap time. Dodger (Golden Retriever) started the day with the big guys and moved next door to play with us smaller dogs half way through the morning. He fits in great with either group. Gatsby (Lab) stopped by to play for a little while late in the morning while his mommy visited with my mommy. Hank says he hopes Gatsby comes back to visit soon. We also had a visit from another little friend who should be coming to play here soon. I'll keep his identity a secret for now. I hear it's fun to be mysterious sometimes.

Welcome Mulligan!

We had a new friend join us today, Mulligan (Golden Retriever). He had a great time playing with Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Otto (English Spaniel). Chico (Lhasa Poo) and Lucy (Papillon) may have a budding romance. Cooper (Maltese) and Buster (Maltese) were pals again today. Chico also played a lot with Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound). Molly (Mountain Cur) enjoyed wrestling a little with Tiki again today. JJ (Lab mix) and Koco (Lab) played with King (Shepherd mix) and with Mattie (English Bulldog). Mattie still plays super hard when she gets here and totally wears herself out. King enjoyed chasing a ball out in the yard, and had a visit from a potential new mommy.

Meet our new foster dog, King!

King (Shepherd mix) arrived yesterday afternoon, and is in search of his forever home. He is enjoying his time with us here at the lodge while waiting. He had a great time playing with Koco (Lab) and Chase (Lab/Border Collie mix). Chase was a little reserved at first but was running around like the other two in no time. Lily (Weimeraner) visited briefly, but she prefers us over in the small room. She played rope for a while and walked around with Molly (Mountain Cur). Molly also wrestled with Tiki (Golden Retriever) off and on. Buster (Maltese) and Chico (Lhasa Poo) are buddies and like to spend time together. They are the two white blurs you may see running by on the camera. Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) enjoyed a few rounds of Tug with TC (Human). Lucy (Papillon) enjoyed her spoon-fed breakfast this morning. We dogs really know how to train the humans. Everyone enjoyed having the overhead door open in the afternoon. Warm weather is great!

Another busy Tuesday here at the Lodge

Today we are having another busy day. We have Molly (Beagle), Molly (Yorkie/Bichon), Cooper (Maltese), Chico (Lhasa Poo), Emma (Terrier mix), Limbo (Wheaton Poo), Lucy (Papillon), Buster (Maltese), Princeton (Havanese), Tiki (Golden Retriever), and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) playing with me. Ed (Human) stopped by to play with us, too. Shadow is becoming more playful every day. She had a sore leg last week, and must be feeling all better now. Emma loves to play with everyone. Tiki and Molly took a little nap together on the bed. Chico got to go visit for a while in the big room, so he could see his buddy Jackson (Border Collie).
In the big room, Mason (Border Collie) chased balls, then he chased balls out in the yard, too. JJ (Lab mix) and Koco (Lab) came in at the same time today and have stayed together most of the time. Blitz (Bearded mix) played a lot with Koco, and a little with JJ. Molly (Mountain Cur) and Poppy (Bearded Collie) loved the sunny weather and running in and out all day.

I love a parade!

We had a great time at the Allentown St. Patrick's Day parade yesterday! The crowd loved us. Little kids kept running out to say hi, and we met lots of new doggie friends along the way. I even found a piece of soft pretzel on the street. I took a bite before mommy noticed and pulled me away. Walking with me were Bruno (Beagle), Poppy (Bearded Collie), Blitz (Bearded Collie mix), Hobbes (Golden Doodle), Pumpkin (Golden/Border Collie mix), Abby (Lab/Border Collie mix), Mattie (English Bulldog), Boone (Coonhound), Lucy (Cockapoo), and Jethro (Lab/Shepherd mix). Winnie (Beagle/Border Collie) rode in the van.

The daycare crowd today is keeping the party going. We have two new friends with us. Otto (English Setter) and Barrett (Bulldog mix) are fitting in nicely. Otto really likes to play with Emma (Terrier Mix) and to get lots of petting from the humans. Winnie (Staffordshire Terrier) had a little spa treatment this morning to get clean after a weekend of wrestling. She and Emma are great friends! Limbo (Wheaton Poo), Molly (Mountain Cur), and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) like to walk the room without getting involved with the crazy younger dogs. Koco (Lab) and Cooper (Golden Retriever) are playing a lot of fetch and running around on the benches. Chico (Lhasa Poo), Buster (Maltese) and Lucy (Papillon) are a good trio. They spent most of the morning together. Our other ball chasing pair is Mason (Border Collie) and Jackson (Border Collie). Chico seems to still have a little man crush on Jackson.

Friday, March 20, 2009

Getting ready for the parade

We are ending the week with a fairly mellow day. Molly (Mountain Cur), Buster (Maltese), Lucy (Papillon), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Mason (Border Collie), Jackson (Border Collie) and Chico (Lhasa Poo) are relaxing at the Lodge. Mason and Jackson have been chasing a lot of toys, but even they have found time to lay down today. We enjoyed another visit from Rachel (Human) today. She's going to be here on Friday mornings to play with us. She may be partly responsible for draining the energy from the border collies. Mommy is heading to the Reading Pet Expo tonight. She read that dogs can't come today. That really stinks. I was hoping to go along. Have your human take you to the expo on Saturday though. Don't go Sunday, because you need to be in Allentown to either join me or watch me in the St. Patrick's Day parade. :)

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Bring back the sun!

We didn't get to have the big doors open today because it is cold and dreary out. How disappointing!
Parker (English Bulldog) is worn out today. He played hard with JJ (Lab mix) and Koco (Lab) early in the morning. JJ also played a lot with Blitz (Bearded Collie mix) while Poppy (Bearded Collie) and Koco chased balls. Molly (Mountain Cur) snuggled with Renee (Human) a lot today. Renee gave her a bath and must have done a great job with the creme rinse. Cooper (Maltese) ran between the two rooms in the early morning when we had the door open between them. He is totally fearless now. Once the bigger dogs arrived, we were kept separate. Cooper (Golden Retriever) and Tiki (Golden Retriever) were in love, as always.
Mommy and I are busy making plans for the St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday. This will be my first parade, and I'm so excited! Watch for us if you go to the parade. I'll be the super cute beagle in the green bandana.

Filling in for Betty today is Lily!

Betty is taking a day off today.
Writing in her place is Lily (Weimeraner)

Today is a beautiful day here at the Lodge. We are sunning ourselves outside a lot. Koco (Lab) keeps going in the pool, but the humans still haven't poured any water in there for her. I wonder if she'll give up? Parker (English Bulldog) likes to wrestle with Tiki (Golden Retriever). After his initial spurt of energy, he and Tiki just layed down and chewed on each other. Once Tiki took a nap, Parker moved on and started running and wrestling with Koco. Chico (Lhasa Poo) and Molly (Mountain Cur) are more like me, not interested in chewing on each other and not silly enough to hang out in an empty pool, but we enjoy the company. Renee (Human) and I played tug and I played with a ball for a little while. Renee seemed really happy about me doing that, so I may humor her and do it some more before I leave today. Sage (Pug) still comes in here with a ton of energy. She runs out of steam a little faster now. She seems fascinated by Parker. I guess he really just looks like a super-sized version of her. He thinks she's pretty special, too.

I hope you are enjoying your day off Betty. Let me know if you need me to fill in for you again.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Welcome Emma, Limbo, Buster and Lucy!

We had four new friends today, all in the small room. Limbo (Wheaton Poo) and Emma (Terrier mix) came first thing this morning, and Emma never ran out of energy. She is quite a fast runner and seemed to smile the whole time. Limbo likes us, too. Buster (Maltese) and Lucy (Papillon) also fit right in with the regular crowd. I think Buster really liked seeing someone like him here, Cooper (Maltese). Emma played a lot with Tiki (Golden Retriever) then moved on to Guinness (Terrier mix) and Cooper when Tiki was worn out. Molly (Beagle) watched from the sidelines but joined us for our potty breaks out in the yard.
In the big room, the love birds were back together. JJ (Lab mix) and Koco (Lab) played with Breezie (Boxer), Rowdy (Boxer) and Parker (English Bulldog). After such a crazy day yesterday, Koco seemed to be ready for nap time. JJ didn't seem to mind taking a break either.

Happy birthday to Hank!

We are having a party today in honor of Hank (Shepherd mix). He turns one today! Two of his best friends came today just to join in the festivities, Dodger (Golden Retriever) and Jethro (Lab/Shepherd mix). Also here to celebrate today are Koco (Lab), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Cooper (Golden Retriever), Molly (Mountain Cur), Mason (Border Collie), Jackson (Border Collie), and Macie (Wheaton Poo). Hank's mom brought us all yummy goodies from the dog bakery. (Thank you Hank's mom!) We gobbled them up fast. Hank, Jethro, and Koco had a big tug of war game going on. I'm not sure who won. We'll say Hank did, since it's his birthday. Cooper got to hang out as a big dog for part of this morning and fit in perfectly. He's getting so big! I remember when we were the same size. Molly ran around and wrestled with Tiki. Neither of the girls was quite ready to wrestle with the big guys like Koco. Don't tell JJ, but I think Koco liked having three boyfriends today. Today is Macie's first day in daycare. She is having a great time! She loved running with the border collies and with the goldens. Of course, she had fun playing with me, too. I hope she comes back soon!
Happy birthday to Hank! Happy birthday to Hank! Happy birthday to Hank!

Lily lays down

None of us are spooked at all that it's Friday the 13th. Mommy and I had our bad luck early in the week, so we are just due for good stuff today.
Lily (Weimeraner) is really settling in with us. She enjoyed snuggling up with TC (Human) in the playroom today and played a little ball. I keep telling her that Mommy and Daddy are watching her on the camera, and that makes her feel good. Mason (Border Collie) played ball - no surprise there. His big brother Jackson (Border Collie) played a little ball and was the referee for Renee (Human) and Mason's game. Koda (Shepherd mix), Tiki (Golden Retriever), and Parker (English Bulldog) were a great trio. Parker really wears himself out. I'm sure he was ready for naptime. Cooper (Maltese), Guinness (Terrier mix) and I played together with Riley (Lhasa Poo). This is his first long day with us. Lily and I told him how great it is here, and he seems to be pretty relaxed now, too. Betsy (Cocker Spaniel) spent most of the morning with us, but her mommy came to pick her up. She was so happy to see her family after spending over a week with us. I hope she comes back to see us again soon!

Mommy is insisting on posting this picture of me. I tried to steal that last couple of cookies out of Laiken's (Human) cookie box. The good news is that I did get a banana cookie. The bad news is my head was stuck in the box.

Welcome Bailey!

We are welcoming another new friend today! Bailey (Cockapoo) is having a great time playing with Cooper (Maltese), Betsy (Cocker Spaniel), Shadow (Elkhound), Chico (Lhasa Poo) and everyone else. He seems to like us all! Cooper (Golden Retriever), Tiki (Golden Retriever), JJ (Lab mix) Koco (Lab), and Koda (Shepherd mix) played well together. JJ may have a little crush on Koda. He played with her exclusively this morning until Koco got here. He's not ready to leave her yet.
Lily (Weimeraner), Molly (Mountain Cur), Jackson (Border Collie), Mason (Border Collie), Dodger (Golden Retriever), Taylor (Lab), and Mattie (English Bulldog) made up the big dog gang. Taylor, Mason and Jackson played a lot of ball, especially out in the yard. Dodger, Molly and Lily were much more interested in getting some good pets from the people. I joined the big dog room in the afternoon to get in some wrestle time with Mattie. It's so much fun to chew on all that extra skin!

Wednesday, right on time

Today is a more mellow crowd than yesterday. We have moments of high energy and excitement, especially from Sage (Pug), Koda (Shepherd mix), Teddy (Bichon/Poodle) and Tiki (Golden Retriever). Betsy (Cocker Spaniel), Lily (Weimeraner) and Shadow (Norwegian Elkhound) enjoyed the show. Mason (Border Collie) and Jackson (Border Collie) are afternoon additions to the group and will spice things up some more. We also have a visit from Angeline (Rottweiler mix) for a spa treatment.
This evening, there is going to be a great show in the small dog room. We have nine puppies for Puppy Kindergarten class. Even I have to admit it's a super cute group, even though there aren't any beagle puppies.

Tuesday a day late

Mommy and I were busy getting our car to the repair shop and picking up our rental car yesterday, so I didn't have a chance to write my blog. Don't tell the rental car people that I'll be riding in the car. They said no dogs, but I have to get to work.

On Tuesday we had a great crowd! Breezie (Boxer), Rowdy (Boxer), JJ (Lab mix), Koco (Lab) Molly (Moutain Cur), and Chloe (Brittany) played together in the big room. In the small room we had Molly (Beagle), Molly (Yorkie/Bichon), Cooper (Maltese), Koda (Shepherd mix), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Teddy (Poodle mix), and Betsy (Cocker Spaniel). Molly and Betsy liked the extra attention from Ed (Human). Cooper and Teddy played together with little Molly, while Koda and Tiki wrestled.

Bad morning for Mommy and me

On the way into work this morning, Mommy and I were in an accident. We are doing fine, but I'm still a little shaken up. Our car is going to need some repairs. I'm spending most of my day on the office couch, so I had to get some details on the playrooms from Tiki (Golden Retriever).

We were excited about getting here to meet another new friend. Tucker (Golden Retriever) is here for his first day of daycare today. He seems to like us, especially Molly (Mountain Cur) and Chloe (Brittany). He also sniffed some with Betsy (Cocker Spaniel). Our other friends today are Cooper (Golden Retriever), Koda (Shepherd Mix), Teddy (Bichon/Poodle), Koco (Lab), Mason (Border Collie) and Jackson (Border Collie). Koco, Koda and Cooper were wrestling together. Teddy and Koda like running laps together, too.

I have exciting news to share - Dolly (Lab/Hound) went to live with her new family this weekend! She is such a good girl and deserves the very best. We'll miss her, but know it's better to go home to your family.

We had a busy weekend. Mommy did some make up lessons for Puppy Kindergarten and we had two more new faces for Saturday morning daycare. Kain (Catahoula Leopard Dog) and Riley (Lhasa Poo) joined Falko (Schnauzer), Betsy, Chloe, Koda, Teddy, and Dolly for a fun day. We had the overhead door open, so we could run in and out all we wanted. I love warm weather!

A cat in daycare?

I am so tired from such a busy week at the Lodge! We had our first cat for daycare today! Tigger's family was moving and he needed a place to stay for a few hours. He hung out in the kitchen, so he didn't spend any time with the rest of us. His sister Daisy (Beagle mix) played with all of us in the playrooms though. She really liked running around with Mason (Border Collie). We also had Lily (Weimaraner), Jackson (Border Collie), Lucy (Cockapoo), Cooper (Maltese), Cooper (Golden Retriever), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Betsy (Cocker Spaniel), Teddy (Bichon/Poodle), Dolly (Lab/Hound), and Mauby (Sheltie mix). We got to spend a lot of time outside today, because the weather was so nice. Chloe (Brittany) and Koda (Shepherd mix) joined the crowd later in the day to spend the weekend with us. We're going to have so much fun!

Boy am I tired!

What a busy day today! We had a happening crowd in both rooms, but I think the large room wins for overall energy level. We had Hank (Shepherd mix), JJ (Lab mix), Molly (Mountain Cur), Parker (English Bulldog), Dodger (Golden Retriever), Koco (Lab), Blitz (Bearded Collie mix), Poppy (Bearded Collie), Mattie (English Bulldog), and Jager (Boxer). Welcome Jager. I hope he enjoyed his first day with us. I'm pretty sure he did. Hank and Dodger hung out together, but Dodger left at nap time. He must have gotten worn out from playing with Blitz, too. Mattie and Parker met for the first time today and seemed to instantly know they had some connection. In a shocking development, JJ and Koco actually played more with the bulldogs than with each other.
In the small dog we had a peppy crowd. It's too bad the border collies weren't here today. It looked like we had a little flock of sheep. Our white dog crew consisted of Chico (Lhasa Poo), Cooper (Maltese) and Teddy (Bichon/Poodle). We also had Callie (Sheltie), Mauby (Sheltie mix), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Dolly (Lab/Hound), and Betsy (Cocker Spaniel). Chico and Mauby played together a lot, and I joined in on the fun. Cooper has been nervous about the floor in the playroom and actually ran around a little bit inside today. Hooray Cooper! Dolly and Tiki played hard in the morning but were ready to nap early. Good thing we have beds in the playroom for breaks. Teddy and Betsy are both here for the first time today and fit in perfectly. Welcome!

Time to start puppy class!

Mommy is getting things ready for the next round of Puppy Kindergarten, which starts tonight. It's always fun to meet the new little babies. It makes me feel so grown up.
Today playing with me are Sage (Pug), Jackson (Border Collie), Mason (Border Collie), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Molly (Mountain Cur), Koda (Shepherd mix), JJ (Lab mix), Mauby (Sheltie mix), and Dolly (Lab/Hound). Everyone got along perfectly today. We helped Renee (Human) work a little more on the murals in the big dog room and enjoyed running around in the snow.
Tomorrow is going to be really busy, so I need to rest up. There's a chance we'll break our previous attendance record.

I love being a dog!

Another super fun day here at the Lodge! We are welcoming Oliver (Yorkie) and Ruby (Papillon) on their first days with us. They enjoyed playing with each other and with Cooper (Maltese). Little Ruby doesn't realize how small she is and wants to play with everyone she meets. Molly (Beagle), Mauby (Sheltie mix), Guinness (Terrier mix) and I had a great time together. Jackson (Border Collie), Mason (Border Collie), Pumpkin (Border Collie mix) and Abby (Border Collie mix) came for the afternoon. There is still plenty of snow to run around in. I wore myself out early today and took some nice long naps on the couch. This working thing is a lot more work than I can take.
In the big room, we had Jethro (Lab mix), JJ (Lab mix), Koco (Lab), Dolly (Lab/Hound), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Breezie (Boxer), and Rowdy (Boxer) all together. Dolly and Tiki spent some time sleeping on the bed. Like me, they come every day and know how tiring it can be. Jethro, JJ, and Koco were a little team most of the morning, although they played a lot with Breezie and Rowdy, too. Rowdy hadn't been in the big room before but fit in really well.

Cooper loves the snow!

We are having a great time in the snow today. I think we all like it, but Cooper (Golden Retriever) loves it the most. There's a picture of him just plopping down in it. Even Dolce (Yorkie) seemed to like the snow a little. Mauby (Sheltie mix) and Sasha (Shiba Inu) played together again today. Mauby chased balls and Sasha chased her. JJ (Lab mix) wrestled with Midnight (Lab) for most of the morning. He also played with Dolly (Lab/Hound) and snuggled with her on the bed. Chico (Lhasa Poo) may have a little crush on Mauby already. He really liked hanging out with her today.
We have a temporary visitor here from Open Arms today too. We have been calling him Neo (Mastiff) but he doesn't have a name yet. He stopped to stay with us on his way to his new home. We don't know if we will see him again but wish him well.
Mommy says to remind everyone that they can "friend" us on Facebook to see our photo albums. Just search for "Cold Nose Lodge."

Trisha has a new home!

I decided to do a Sunday post, because we have exciting news to share. Trisha (Lab/Hound) went to her new home today! We're hoping she will come to visit us, since she will be living in the area. She has a new big sister Lab who is welcome to come visit, too.
We have a great weekend crowd. Parker (English Bulldog) came for his first day on Saturday and wore himself out. He played with Jager (German Shorthair Pointer) and Midnight (Lab) in the big room. Also new this weekend is Falko (Schnauzer). He played with Parker in the small room and also with Sasha (Shiba Inu), Mauby (Sheltie mix), Trisha and Dolly (Lab/Hound). Sasha and Mauby are really good friends already and like to pal around. Dolce (Yorkie) came in today to join us for the rest of the weekend and fits in well with the other girls.

Friday Funday!

We are having a busy day today with lots of friends, including another new one. Mauby (Sheltie/Eskimo mix) is here for her first day. She is still getting used to us, and totally lucked out by coming on a nice morning. We had the overhead doors open, so we could all run in and out as we pleased. The doors are already closed up for the afternoon. Bummer. Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Cooper (Golden Retriever) played together. "Mini" Cooper (Maltese) was back for his second day. He loved being outside and would venture back inside a little. He announced each time a train came by and seemed to have a great time with his friends. Chase (Lab / Border Collie) seems to like Mini Cooper a lot. Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound) are making great strides in their potty training. There was only one accident between the two of them all morning.
Over in the big room, they are all exhausted. Jager (German Shorthair Pointer) has so much energy and everyone else tried to keep up with him. Hank (Shepherd mix) was ready to take a nap by mid-morning, but he kept pushing himself. Molly (Mountain Cur) loved being in a room of crazy dogs. She had a big grin on her face when I peeked in at her. Blitz (Bearded mix) played mostly with Hank and Jager. Even Poppy (Bearded collie formerly known as Molly) was too tired to keep chasing the ball by the end of the morning. Midnight (Lab) was with the big dogs today. She also seems to have a big smile all day.
Jackson (Border Collie), Mason (Border Collie) and Sage (Pug) joined us later in the day and will have a blast all afternoon, I'm sure.

It's Midnight all day.

We are having such a good time with Midnight (Lab) again today. She and Koco (Lab) are really wearing each other out. Dodger (Golden Retriever) thinks they are very silly girls, and I have to agree. He ran around with them but wasn't interested in recreating WWE matches with them. Chico (Lhasa Poo) ran around with Dodger and flirted some with Callie (Sheltie). She stills plays hard to get with him. Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound) curled up for a mid-morning nap with Tiki (Golden Retriever) but found time to run and wrestle, too. Molly (Mountain Cur) came back for another day today. She seems to have an extra little prance in her step today, maybe because she knows she still looks so good from her bath yesterday? She spent most of her time hanging out with Chico and Callie. We had a visit from Oliver (Yorkshire Terrier) who is going to start coming to play with us. He met a bunch of us, but I think I was his favorite.

Get well soon Lily!

Lily (Weimeraner) is home sick today, so I want to send her good wishes for a speedy recovery. Hopefully we will see her next week!
We are welcoming Midnight (Lab) for her first day with us. She is full of energy and is keeping JJ (Lab mix) busy. JJ seemed sad that he came on a day without Koco, but Midnight has helped him forget. They are both going to be so tired! Molly (Mountain Cur) is having a little spa time during nap today. She is always so happy to come see us. I wonder if she would walk herself in from the parking lot if her parents let her. Probably, but no one is taking any chances with the train tracks across the street.
Two other high energy friends are here today, Mattie (English Bulldog) and Sage (Pug)! Mattie was so happy to see JJ, too. He's becoming quite the ladies man around here. I know I'll always have a special place in his heart though. Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound) had seemed a little sad yesterday but were perky and playful again today.
We had a visit this morning from Cyrus (Miniature Pinscher) who came for a spa treatment. He left with a super shiny coat, clean ears and a fresh pedicure.

Welcome Cooper!

We have another new friend today, Cooper (Maltese). He is a little nervous about the floors, but can really run and play hard outside. He wrestled and ran with Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Guinness (Terrier mix). Molly (Beagle) watched the show and took breaks on the bench and bed inside with Cooper. Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound) think Cooper is really cute. They are hoping to play some more with him later this week. Molly (Mountain Cur) joined us just in time for a little play time before naps. She's ready to run this afternoon.
In the large room, the little lovebirds were back together. JJ (Lab mix) and Koco (Lab mix) played nicely. They also played some with Blitz (Bearded mix) and Chloe (Great Pyrenees), especially outside. The long haired dogs love the cool weather! Molly (Bearded Collie) and Mason (Border Collie) took turns chasing balls. Jackson (Border Collie) likes to run around with a toy in his mouth and keeps everything in order. He stops for some loving from Barbara (Human) and Renee (Human) from time to time.
Thanks Ed (Human) for hanging out in the small room again today! He has started visiting us on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Reba has a new home!

Our foster friend Reba was adopted this weekend! She now lives in Massachusetts and seems to really like her new mom and dad. We're hoping Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound) find homes soon, too. They were so busy playing today that I'm not sure if they even noticed that Reba is gone. They were playing with Cooper (Golden Retriever), Tiki (Golden Retriever), and Koco (Lab). Koco also played ball with Mason (Border Collie) for the first time. Jackson (Border Collie) and Molly (Mountain Cur) kept an eye on the little ones. Chico (Lhasa Poo) likes to hang out with Jackson and help patrol the room. They must walk/run a few miles over the course of the day. Keeva (Lab Mix) joined us this morning for a little play time before her spa day. She looked so shiny and pretty when her mom came to pick her up. My mommy tried to give her treats because she was so good for her nail trim, but she wouldn't eat. I can't believe someone would pass up food. Keeva played well with Koco. Keeva's mom knows JJ's grandma, so she knew about Koco, who is JJ's girlfriend. Chloe (Great Pyrenees) joined us to play this afternoon and loves to be outside. She certainly has the coat for cool weather.

Mommy says I should say hi to Judy (Koco's grandma) in my blog today. Apparently she's a great fan!

Happy 1st Birthday Laiken!

I am taking a day off from the Lodge because my little girl is turning one today! Happy birthday Laiken! I hope Renee and Deb are able to run things today without me there to help. Mommy says they can handle it.

The return of Mattie

We are having another great day here at the Lodge. Our friend Mattie (English Bulldog) had been away for a while and is back today. We really missed her, and I think she missed us, too. She played hard with JJ (Lab mix), Koco (Lab) in the big room then spent some time with us in the small room, too.
Back in the big room: JJ and Koco played together. Dodger (Golden Retriever) and Blitz (Bearded Collie mix) played together. Molly (Bearded Collie) and Mason (Border Collie) took turns retrieving balls and toys. Jackson (Border Collie) tried to keep order in the room, while Molly (Mountain Cur) oversaw the crowd. It is a great group!
In the small room: I played with Mattie, Indie (Carolina Dog), Molly (Beagle), Cooper (Golden Retriever), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Chico (Lhasa Poo), Reba (Lab/Hound), Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound). Indie has really come out of her shell. She is running around, playing with us all. Trisha learned a new trick. She can climb up the crates to stand on top. What a little monkey! Chico tried to keep up with the ball chasing level from the big room, but that may be too much for him to do. He likes to take a break from ball chasing, while Molly and Mason do not.

I didn't post yesterday, so I'll summarize our day. Mason and Jackson were here, along with Lily (Weimeraner), Indie, Tiki, Reba, Trisha, Dolly and Sage (Pug). We were all perfect angels all day. :) Sage was good for her pedicure. She got to eat peanut butter as a reward. She didn't offer to share with me. Doesn't she know I love food?

Welcome Indie and Forrest!

I love welcoming new friends to the Lodge! Today we have two new faces in the small room, Forrest (German Shepherd) and Indie (Carolina Dog). They are both a lot of fun to be around and seem to like playing together, too. They also played with Rowdy (Boxer), Chico (Lhasa Poo), Tiki (Golden Retriever), Reba (Lab/Hound), Trisha (Lab/Hound), and Dolly (Lab/Hound). Rounding out the crowd today were Molly (Beagle), Molly (Yorkie/Bichon), and Guinness (Terrier Mix). Guinness' favorite thing is running up and down the ramp outside. He really has some speed. Some times we race, and it's always close.
In the large room we have Breezie (Boxer), JJ (Lab mix), Koco (Lab), Jackson (Border Collie) and Mason (Border Collie). They are a really active group and love to run, just like Guinness. :)

Catch up day

I was too spooked on Friday the 13th to make a post. I'll get you all caught up though.

On Friday, we had Mason (Border Collie), Jackson (Border Collie), Koda (Shepherd mix), Fifi (Pomeranian), Molly (Mountain Cur), Tiffany (Cocker Bichon), Reba (Lab/Hound), Trisha (Lab/Hound) and Dolly (Lab/Hound). The border collies ran and chased balls and toys. The rest of us ran around a little and snuggled a lot.

Over the weekend, we had a good group of dogs for daycare and boarding: Destiny (American Pit Bull Terrier), Dozer (English Bulldog), Mason (Border Collie), Jackson (Border Collie), Tiffany (Cocker Bichon), Koda (Shepherd Mix), Winnie (Staffordshire Terrier), Knuckles (Boxer), and Fifi (Pomeranian). I visited for just a few hours on Saturday.

Now for today! Hank (Shepherd mix) and Koco (Lab) wrestled and played together in the big room. The only break they took from playing was to try chewing on the mattress. Oops! Mommy was able to just tape the hole they made, so they aren't in big trouble. Winnie (Staffordshire Terrier) and Koda (Shepherd mix) are best friends. They love to play together. They don't mind including the rest of us in their little group though. Tiki (Golden Retriever) and Cooper (Golden Retriever) are in love as always. They are both disappointed that they didn't get to spend Valentine's Day together. Tiki really likes playing tug with Winnie. She's hoping Winnie comes back to play again soon. Reba, Dolly and Trisha (Lab/Hound mixes) all got baths and nail trims today. They are hoping to find their forever homes soon. Fifi (Pomeranian) likes to watch the crowd from the bench. Sometimes Dolly snuggles with her up there.

I think that gets everyone all caught up again. Tomorrow will be a busy day, so I'm going to go take my nap now. Oh, I almost forgot, the picture is of Winnie. She always looks so happy.
